John Gideon, 1947-2009 The loss of John Gideon is incalculable. John Gideon was a stalwart
friend of Ohio and all who seek transparency, accountability, fair

The Center for Election Excellence is a new research and communications center dedicated to bringing together expertise from all fields that can provide insight and work to support election administration. We seek to bridge the gaps between these areas and
build relationships that allow the best of all relevant professionals - the people who administer "the real world of elections," academics, think tank researchers, advocacy organizations, government and policy leaders, consulting firms and vendors - to work more effectively for the public good. As the Center is located in Ohio, we particularly seek to foster cooperation and apply sound insight towards improving Ohio election law and administration.

that merit a closer look, and how to proceed. The authors have expertise in
computer engineering, security and forensics, voting technology
evaluations, and election administrative processes. The goal of this
paper is to assist election officials and their counsel in making
sound judgments about when a deeper (forensic) examination by
independent experts may be needed to protect an election's accuracy
and prevent recurrence of technical problems. The authors invite
critical, constructive commentary for a revised edition. Use the links

Nonpartisan Election Protection
The Election Protection Coalition seeks to provide a nonpartisan national safety net for all voters. It supports effective election administration by sending out trained "mobile legal volunteers" on Election Day to identify or verify trouble spots so the officials can resolve them quickly. Those with legal training - lawyers, paralegals and law students - are asked to pitch in to assist in a successful election. Click to volunteer online to offer your legal skills for election protection.
